MONTES |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Somewhat herbal, fairly cedary, intense, baked plum-apple-sandalwood nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, extracty, slightly spicy, intense, baked plum-apple flavours with a lingering, cedary, somewhat herbal, faintly peppery finish. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / TRY - Cedary, black currant nose with vanilla oak; full-bodied, dry, spicy blackberry and black currant with balancing acidity and well-integrated oak. Lovely mouth-feel. This blend of 92% Carmenere and 8% Petit Verdot has 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar. It comes in a very heavy bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: This has a perfect nose of blackberry, tar, black pepper, thyme, cloves and rose petal. Full body and firm and very silky and polished tannins. The finish goes on for minutes. Best ever. Great class. 92% carmenere and 8% petit verdot. Drink in 2019 but so gorgeous now. Score - 98 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, May 29, 2017) |
