BARREL FERMENTED CHARDONNAY 2015 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TRIUS
Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. Here is our tasting note from a sample received from the winery. Bright very light yellow colour. Fairly intense, complex, intense, slightly spicy, cedar driven, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly baked ripe lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, spicy, cedary finish. Best in the ISO glass - didn't show as well in the larger Montrachet glass! Ready-to-drink. TONY ASPLER / 89.5-points / BEST BUY - Minerally, apple, spicy oak nose with a forest floor note; medium-bodied, dry, elegant, spicy, orange and apple flavours with balancing acidity and well-integrated oak; lively on the finish with lemony acidity. The recommended best buy 2009 (**/**+) was released on October 29, 2011 at $18.95. CSPC 251470

A Best Buy
TASTING NOTE: Not sure I've had a better version of this Barrel Fermented Chardonnay ever (that's a broad statement but possibly true); lovely aromas of peach, lime and citrus, which follows onto the palate then layers in vanilla, butterscotch and peach cobbler notes. It feels rich and creamy in the mouth with just enough acidity to keep things honest ... but what really makes this wine so special is the long finish. It's a luxurious Chardonnay for not a lot of dough, and that makes it even more appealing. Score - 4+ Stars (out of 5) (Michael Pinkus, ontariowinereview.com, April 5, 2017) Price $ 19.95
