CHÂTEAUBEAU MERCUREY 2014 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MANOIR DE MERCEY |
Fairly deep purple red colour. Spicy, slightly earthy, baked plum-apple nose with some cedary notes. Very dry, medium to medium-light bodied, tangy, somewhat peppery, faintly dusty, plum-apple-cherry flavours with a lingering, high acid finish. Should improve. Has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Tasted twice, the second bottle was a tad better with 88-points. |

This wine is grown on slopes, planted with vines in 1957, at the foot of a limestone cliff on which stand the ruins of a Roman camp known as \"Châteaubeau.\" TASTING NOTE: This youthful wine shows great promise already, with complex notions of wood spice, dark cherry, beetroot and smoke. It's firm, tart and bright on the tongue with attractive earthy and beet-y notes. Drink until 2025 with coq au vin or wild mushroom stew. (Vintages panel, July 2017) |
