Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, gently complex, intense, very ripe plum-cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, complex, baked plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, cedary finish. This organic blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc has 15% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L01 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 89-points - Cedary, black cherry and vanilla oak on the nose; medium-bodied, dry, well-extracted ripe plum and blackcurrant flavours with a firm finish. Unfortunately, the second bottle was corked. |

TASTING NOTE: Gaby's new consultant, Dr. Alain Raynaud, has brought the best out of this property, fashioning a sleeper of the vintage. An impressive blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2011 Gaby is deep, rich and concentrated. The only other Fronsacs / Canon-Fronsacs with this level of intensity and opulence are La Vieille Cure, Haut Carles and Fontenil. Enjoy this beauty over the next decade. Drink Date: 2012-2022. Score - 90-92 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, April 25, 2012) |
