TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Alvarinho \"Morgadio da Torre\" is dry and unoaked. It is also beautifully made and constructed. Tightly wound in its youth, this focused and rather precise Alvarinho has a touch of green followed by hits of acidity. It is glorious in its youth. This is the opposite of lush. The acidity is notable and the wine has all that zing and zest. The sunny finish is invigorating and the wine is refreshing. That's what a lot of folks will want from Vinho Verde, right? The mid-palate solidity makes it a cut above, though, granting that it won't ever be the richest Alvarinho. I seem to be saying this a lot in this vintage, but this is a steal at the price. Even if it fades a bit faster than I suspect, it is awfully fine now. Drink Date: 2016-2020. Score - 90 (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, June 29, 2016) |
