TASTING NOTE: Here's a terrific value chardonnay from the premium Twenty Mile Bench sub-region of the Escarpment, quickly becoming one of the hotspots for the variety in Ontario. I love the restraint and elegance of this wine, with just a gentle touch of old wood spice, but mostly appealing, steely-stony character, citrus and green apple/pear, sharp acids and great length. The cool climate finesse and deft, minimalist winemaking touch go a long way here, and for $23, you'd be hard pressed to find similar poise in most other places on planet earth.
