Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, slightly spicy, slightly rustic, leathery nose. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, spicy, ripe plum-apple-cherry flavours with a leathery, high acid, sandalwood finish. A third REPEAT of the 2008 (**/**+) that was last released on July 23, 2016 at $22.95 with lot number C0801 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 89-points / BUY - Cedary, spicy plum with sandalwood notes on the nose; full-bodied, dry, firmly structured with an earthy, tannic finish. This 100% Tempranillo has 14% alcohol and now 2 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number LC170803 on the back label. Unfiltered and hence the sediment with 2 years aging in oak. |

TASTING NOTE: Generously spicy and wood-inflected, this is clean, cedar and sandalwood-scented, exotic and complex, with a wide range of fruit, earth, spice and herb flavours. The palate has great presence, mouth filling and generous without heaviness, and terrific length. This is the best Dehesa I can remember tasting - a superb value. Really lovely, solid wine; beware the heavy sediment that has already been thrown - you'll want to stand this up for a day and decant. Score - 92 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, July 2016) |
