CORASCO 2015 IGT Rosso delle Venezie |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TEDESCHI |
Very deep intense purple colour. Very intense, slightly spicy, baked plum-apple-cherry nose with some mocha-chocolate-sandalwood notes. Dry, quite well structured, good mid palate, ripe plum-cherry-apple flavours with a lingering, crisp, sandalwood-tinged, high acid finish. The grapes (80% Corvina, 10% Refosco and 10% Raboso) were dried about one month, which is a third of the time when used for Amarone. It has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number 2015L3 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 89-points / BEST BUY - Cedary, cherry nose with vanilla oak note; medium-bodied, dry, fresh and lively on the palate; juicy cherry and red plum flavours. The recommended best buy 2008 (**/**+) was released on April 14, 2012 at $15.95. |

TASTING NOTE: From one of the greats of Venetian winemaking. The grapes for this were sourced from three separate areas: the Corvina from the Moraine Hills; the Raboso from Treviso; and the Refosco from Aquileia. These grapes were then dried before fermentation - a process that results in more concentrated colour, flavour and body. This wine offers dark berry, red cherry, cocoa, cracked pepper and leather. Ripe, rich and long, it will be ideal with meaty pasta dishes. (Vintages panel, Oct. 2016) |
