DOMAINE MALDANT PAUVELOT |
Medium deep purple red colour. Intense, complex, ripe plum-cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, very slightly spicy, well structured, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, very gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged, fairly high acid, very faintly smoky finish. Nice. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / TRY - A bouquet of fresh mushroom, leather and raspberries; medium-bodied, dry, well-balanced, elegant, and lingering, with raspberry and cranberry flavours. |

TASTING NOTE: Notably lithe with charming red fruit, the red wines of Savigny-Lès-Beaune are approachable in their youth. This one is no exception. It suggests generous red cherry and red berries with a lifted violet tone. White pepper and gentle oak nuances add further depth. This is fresh and beautifully balanced, ripe and harmonious - it will reward 5+ years of further cellaring. (Vintages panel, Sept. 2016) |
