CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014 Columbia Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer POWERS
I have not tasted this release and if it is presented at the August 15 consultant's preview I will post a score and review. TONY ASPLER / 88.5-points / TRY - Dense purple colour; cedary, spicy, blackberry on the nose; full-bodied, plum and currant flavours; chunky mouth-feel with a firm tannic structure. This new blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 5% Malbec has 15.1% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. The recommended 2013 (**/**+) was released on January 9, 2016 at $22.95 meaning that this is a bargain! CSPC 434456

TASTING NOTE: In his late teens, Greg Power helped his father, Bill, plant their 80-acre family estate, Badger Mountain Vineyard. Greg went on to be vineyard manager from 1982 to 1990 before taking the reins as winemaker. This friendly-priced Cabernet Sauvignon contains splashes of Merlot and Malbec and shows cassis, green pepper, floral and spice notes wrapped in a big, bold structure with grippy tannins. Pair with barbecued beef or mushroom burgers. (Vintages panel, Feb. 2017) Price $ 16.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
