ST. DAVIDS BENCH VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014 VQA St. David's Bench, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU DES CHARMES
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Very slightly spicy, very faintly smoky, somewhat cedary, baked plum-apple-cherry nose. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, still quite youthful, fairly intense, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, fairly high acid finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar and 510 cases were produced. Unfortunately, the second bottle tasted seemed somewhat bretty. CSPC 935957

TASTING NOTE: This is a quite substantial, balanced and elegant young cabernet. Not great depth or length but there is an evenness on the nose and palate with fine sweet oak spice, earth and quite ripe black raspberry fruit. It's medium- full bodied, with fine sandy tannin, some warmth and a sour edge. The length is very good. I would age this a year or three. Tasted July 2016.
