PHOENIX 2016 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer FEATHERSTONE
Bright very pale straw colour. Very spicy, slightly honeyed, lychee-rosewater nose with some mineral notes. Faintly off dry, medium-light bodied, very spicy, honeyed, lychee-apple-melon puree flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, unoaked, faintly bitter finish. Ready-to-drink. Try with spicy Asian cuisine. Has 13.5% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. TONY ASPLER / 88-points - Spicy, floral, banana nose; light to medium-bodied, lychee and grapefruit flavors, soft mid palate but certainly delivers Gewurz character. CSPC 519025

LCBO Text Status A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection!
Gewurztraminer vines that Featherstone's Dave Johnson and Louise Engel believed dead from cold winter burn 'rose again' to produce this remarkable wine. TASTING NOTE: The nose shows notes of honeydew melon, grapefruit, lychee, ginger and clove. It's a touch off-dry with lovely texture and rich, ripe exotic fruits. It's quite delicious, from a nearly extinct variety. Score - 88 (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, June 14, 2017) Price $ 18.95
