CAPE CREST SAUVIGNON BLANC 2014 Hawkes Bay, North Island
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TE MATA ESTATE
Very bright pale straw colour. Very intense, spicy, grassy, gooseberry nose with some herbal rhubarb notes. Dry, medium bodied, complex, intense, mature, very spicy, grassy, stewed lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, rhubarb-driven finish. Tasted twice - not my style as it seems past its prime. This blend of 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon and 6% Sauvignon Gris has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / TRY - Straw colour; slightly sweaty, green plum nose; medium-bodied, crisply dry, green plum flavour wth lively acidity and great length. CSPC 490318

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc Cape Crest offers a very expressive, tropical nose with notes of guava, pineapple and green mango over cedar and dried herbs. Ripe, lush and with tons of tropical flavor on the medium- bodied palate, this is an opulent style of Sauvignon with a finish that goes on and on. Drink: 2015-2018.
