CAPE CREST SAUVIGNON BLANC 2014 Hawkes Bay, North Island |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

TE MATA ESTATE |
Very bright pale straw colour. Very intense, spicy, grassy, gooseberry nose with some herbal rhubarb notes. Dry, medium bodied, complex, intense, mature, very spicy, grassy, stewed lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, rhubarb-driven finish. Tasted twice - not my style as it seems past its prime. This blend of 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon and 6% Sauvignon Gris has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / TRY - Straw colour; slightly sweaty, green plum nose; medium-bodied, crisply dry, green plum flavour wth lively acidity and great length. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc Cape Crest offers a very expressive, tropical nose with notes of guava, pineapple and green mango over cedar and dried herbs. Ripe, lush and with tons of tropical flavor on the medium- bodied palate, this is an opulent style of Sauvignon with a finish that goes on and on. Drink: 2015-2018. Score - 90+ (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2015) |
