BLEND MALBEC/CABERNET SAUVIGNON/PETIT VERDOT 2014 Uco Valley, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LOS HAROLDOS |
Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, cedary, juicy, ripe cherry-plum nose with some faint herbal notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, tangy, slightly spicy, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, high acid, gently cedary finish. This blend of 60% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot has 13% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L28.03/2017 on the back label meaning that it was apparently bottled well after it received the astounding 96-point score appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. TONY ASPLER / 87.5-points - Cedary, spicy black fruit bouquet; medium-bodied, dry, firm with lively acidity and a tannic finish. |

This is a blend of 60% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Petit Verdot, and another amazing example of the successful marriage of Bordeaux varietals and Argentine Malbec. TASTING NOTE: The addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot to the blend works brilliantly, bringing complexity and class. The nose is elegant, loaded with cassis, plum, violet, spicy and peppery notes and leads on to a full-bodied palate with a pure fruit expression and fine tannins. Finishes long. Score - 96 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2016) |
