VITIANO 2014 IGP Umbria |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
FALESCO |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Cedar-tinged, baked plum-cherry-apple puree nose. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, bright plum-cherry-apple flavours with some crisp, red currant notes on the rather malic, high acid finish. Screwcap closure. Has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L16288 on the back label. Not up to the recommended best buy 2013 (**) released on July 11, 2015 at $15.95. TONY ASPLER / 86-points - Earthy, cherry and dried herbs on the nose; medium-bodied, dry, more expressive on the nose than on the palate and short on finish. You can safely ignore the excessive 91-point Suckling tasting note from July 10, 2016 appearing in the Vintages Catalogue that is not based on this bottling. |

TASTING NOTE: A soft and velvety texture red with orange peel, chocolate and plum aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, fresh acidity and a flavorful finish. Subtle at the same time. This is always one of Italy's excellent value reds. Drink or hold. Score - 91 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, July 10, 2016) |
