PALÁS BARBERA D'ASTI 2015 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MICHELE CHIARLO
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Bright, intense, ripe plum-cherry nose. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, fairly dense (for a Barbera d'Asti), slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry-red apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, sandalwood-tinged finish. Quite tasty with excellent typicity and ready-to-drink - perfect for summer drinking perhaps ever-so-slightly chilled. Has 13.8% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number LB067 on the capsule. TONY ASPLER / 86.5-points - Spicy cherry with an earthy-leathery note on the nose; medium-bodied, fruity, red cherry flavour with a firm tannic finish. CSPC 496471

TASTING NOTE: Barbera d'Asti is one of Italy's most astoundingly well-priced DOCG red wines, and this one doesn't disappoint. Complex aromas of raspberry tart, cherry, strawberry and tobacco paint a vivid picture. Notes of plum and cola emerge too. It's nicely balanced and soft as silk. Pair with tomato salad featuring ricotta and fresh basil. (Vintages panel, Nov. 2016) Price $ 13.95
