TASTING NOTE: Nose: Only pour this one if you have a good half hour to spare: the nose absolutely mesmerizes as it changes shape and depth continuously. The honeys are soft and graceful, never dominating but rounding edges. The spices are well mannered yet condiment. The fruit takes the direction of apple and mango. Together they create a near faultless harmony. Taste: The wheat is vibrant, pressing bold spices into a honeyed core. The layering accentuated by the licorice and hickory which balance the sweeter elements with rare panache. Finish: Long with varying textures of oak. Never dries too much while refusing to allow the bountiful sugars the upper hand. All the time the spices throb ... This almost blew me off my chair. Always thought this was pleasant, if a little under-whelming, in the past. However, this bottling has had a few thousand volts passed through it as it now comes alive on the palate with a glorious blending of freshness and debonair aging.
