Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. A REPEAT of the 2012 (*+/**) was released on April 1, 2017 at $25.25. Here is the previous tasting note: Faintly ambering medium ruby colour. Fairly intense, slightly spicy, mature, somewhat cooked, plum-cherry nose with some cedary, baked apple notes. Dry, crisp, medium to medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, tangy, cooked plum-crancherry-apple flavours with a faintly cedary, bright finish. Has only 12% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Screwcap closure. TONY ASPLER / 88-points - Cedary, cherry and rhubarb nose with spicy oak notes; medium-bodied, dry, firmly structured and still tight with sour cherry and red plum flavours. |

TASTING NOTE: The warmer vintage has delivered some ripeness, balance and a touch of class. It has a soft, gentle and quite complex nose of fresh cherry, woodsy notes, spice and subtle vanillin. It's medium weight, initially rounded and fresh then trailing into some tannic astringency and earthiness on the finish. The length is very good but I wanted more, partially because the fruit and other flavours are appealing. Give this another two years. I am finding that Tawse pinots need some time to unlock. Score - 90 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, March 2017) |
