Deep intense purple colour. Gently spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, very faintly cedary, fairly high acid finish. This Mercurey from the Côte Chalonnaise is fresh, charming and approachable now! Has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LM4 on the front label. CSPC 487462

Mercurey is the most important village in the Côte Chalonnaiseis and one of the most well-known vineyards. Founded in the early 1900s, Domaine Emile Juillot is now run by Emile's granddaughter Nathalie and her husband Jean-Claude. They began overseeing operations for the Domaine in 1987 but didn't change the name until 2007. They are known for crafting serious, traditionally styled wines with exceptional ageing potential. This wine is produced using grapes sourced from vines first planted in 1955 and from 'younger' vines planted in 1970. Price $ 31.95
