CUVÉE DIX-NEUVIÈME CHARDONNAY 2014 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PEARL MORISSETTE |
Forward bright light yellow colour. Spicy, mineral-driven nose that has some complex, perhaps somewhat oxidative, baked lemon-apple notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, fairly intense, spicy, baked lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, oxidative finish. Not my style. Has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 87-points - Spicy, high-toned nose of apple with a floral note; medium to full-bodied, dry, spicy, apple and lemon flavours with some bitterness on the finish. A definite pass at the price. Better than the 2013 (*+/**) released on July 9, 2016 at $38.20. |

TASTING NOTE: While not the final blend, you get a glimpse of the future. [This] shows attractive apple, citrus, and mineral notes with a reductive/brioche note. It's striking in the mouth with rich and layered orchard fruits, integrated spice and perky acidity. (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Sept. 14, 2015) |
