Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, fairly intense, ripe plum-cherry nose with some cedar-sandalwood-licorice notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, fairly complex, slightly spicy, mouthfilling, intense, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, sandalwood-tinged finish. This blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TASTING NOTE: Xavier's 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape is another rocking wine from this estate. Christmas spice, raspberry, crushed flowers and hints of mint all emerge from this elegant, yet ripe, textured and forward effort. Made from 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre that was aged in equal parts foudre and barrel, drink it anytime over the coming decade. Drink Date: 2014-2024.
