CLOSSON CHASE VINEYARD CHARDONNAY 2014 VQA Prince Edward County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CLOSSON CHASE VINEYARD)
Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. A REPEAT of the recommended 2014 (**+) with 89-points released on August 20, 2016 at $29.00. Here is my previous tasting note: forward medium straw colour. Intense, spicy, cedar-tinged, lemon puree nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly extracty, lemon-lime meringue flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, slightly nutty, fairly high acid finish. Best with poultry and white meats. Has 12.6% alcohol and now 2 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 148866

John Szabo M.S., Michael Godel and Steve Thurlow each also rated this wine 92 points (winealign.com). TASTING NOTE: Winemaker Keith Tyers has crafted a beauty out of the cool 2014 growing season, harnessing the year's bright acidity while using smart pruning to drive the vines to yield precision-ripened grapes. Notes of pear and peach in the middle find balance in citrus-like acidity, supported by well-integrated oak and a whiff of buttered popcorn.
