PETITE SIRAH 2013 Guadalupe Valley, Baja California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer L.A. CETTO
Very deep intense purple colour. Spicy, juicy, black cherry purée nose with some cedary, notes. Faintly dry, medium bodied,, fairly juicy, plum-cherry purée flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, finish. The 2015 (*) was released on April 1, 2015 at $11.95. Beware - two of the three bottles tasted had some serious issues (tca?) and were downright awful - shades of dew worms that have been in a hot bait box for much too long. TONY ASPLER / 87.5-points - Dense purple colour; herbal, black currant nose; full-bodied, richly extracted, sweetish, spicy plum flavour with grainy tannins. If every bottle was like this, it would be a best buy! Has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 06140 on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 983742

TASTING NOTE: LA Cetto is the biggest Mexican winery and very consistent in quality with regard to entry level red wines, produced by the million bottles. In my opinion this is the best of the series that also includes a varietal Zinfandel and Cabernet - rich and open aromas typical for the Petit Sirah (dried red berries, leather, hot soil, smokiness) and a real quaffer with perfect balance.
