DOMAINE DE CÔTES RÉMONT CHENAS 2018 AP Chénas
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DOMAINE DE CÔTES RÉMONT
Chenas is one of the top 10 Beaujolais classified Cru sites which are designated villages/areas in Beaujolais just south of Burgundy. Unlike Burgundy, however, the word Cru in Beaujolais refers to an entire wine-producing area rather than an individual vineyard. Chénas produces robust Gamays and it is the smallest Cru and are loved for their aroma of wild roses. This one is a beauty. Deep crimson red in coulor, the nose exudes floral notes accompanied by intense, ripe, raspberry-driven, plummy-crancherry fruit. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious and well structured, the vibrant, ripe, raspberry-plum-red-currant flavours leap out of the glass and linger on the mineral-tinged finish. Perfect with coq au vin, this 100% Gamay has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L201804 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 90-points - Purple-ruby in colour; lightly floral, plum and cherry nose with a touch of oak spice; medium-bodied, dry, spicy, cherry and cranberry flavours; fruity and juicy. Beautifully balanced, ready to drink, versatile. It is the best-to-date of all ten previous Chenas releases in Vintages - the first ever to get 90-points. CSPC 18368
