CABERNET FRANC ICEWINE 2005 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

Very light orange ambering red colour. Peppery, sweet, apple peel nose. Very sweet, stewed apple sauce and apple peel flavours with a slightly sour, greenish, finish. I am distressed by the high alcohol, peppery, acetic, volatile acidity on the single bottle sampled, which are unacceptable. Tasted once. |

TASTING NOTE: Many cab franc icewines are quite pale. This is bright and deeply coloured with a plummy hue. Dessert in itself with flavours mindful of strawberry cheesecake, or perhaps strawberry-rhubarb pie (the mind is set off in many directions here). It's medium-full bodied, very sweet with a sour, slightly acetic edge providing the acid support. Sweet and sour on the finish, with excellent length.
