RIESLING ICEWINE 2019 VQA Niagara Peninsula, Ontario |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
INNISKILLIN |
Bright very light yellow colour. Intense, complex, very sweet, ripe appl-apricot puree nose with some caramel and Seville orange marmalade notes. Extremely sweet, medium-bodied, well structured, spicy, intense, fairly pungent, very ripe apple purée flavours with a lingering, high acid, caramel-driven, Seville orange marmalade tinged finish. It has 9.5% alcohol, 245 g/L residual sugar and a whopping 12.53 g/L total acidity. This is still extremely youthful rating 94-points today and really needs more time. It will hit 97-points if properly stored in a cool cellar a decade from now. |

TASTING NOTE: This Riesling Icewine offers sweet, honeyed flavors of apple sauce and peach pie, with accents of candied apricots and dried papaya. The acids balance out the sugar, which is finished at 230 g/L. Score - 92 (Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast, Sept. 1, 2021) |
