VIDAL ICEWINE 2019 VQA Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHÂTEAU DES CHARMES |
This just-released very youthful 2019 icewine could likely use up to another decade to develop. Bright very pale straw colour, the nose has an abundance of Seville orange marmalade and honeyed apricot along with buttery brioche, acacia and caramel. It’s very sweet, medium bodied, well balanced but still very youthful, with apricot jam flavours plus a lingering, gently tangy, caramel-vanilla finish. Elegant now, it will start fleshing out in about five years and become more opulent and concentrated as time passes. If stored properly, the tasting score will continue to rise slowly to 95-points. This 100% Vidal was harvested on February 8, 2020 and has 11.7% alcohol and 190 g/L residual sugar with a hefty 9.8 g/L total acidity. |
