Unable to get a bottle for assessment from agent. Any item not tasted is assigned an interim ZERO-STAR (-) rating and an interim 0-POINT proxy score until properly assessed. A third REPEAT of the 2016 (not presented) last released on July 6, 2019 at $34.95. Before that it appeared March 17, 2018 at $34.95 and was an Explorer Selection. Here is my previous note: Bright pale straw colour. Intense, honeyed, spicy, raisiny nose with some ripe apricot notes. Very sweet, medium bodied, gently viscous, spicy, bright apple pie flavours with a lingering, caramel-tinged finish. Quite ready-to-drink. Has 11% alcohol and now with 212 g/L residual sugar. It is strange that the previous LCBO sugar level was 138 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: This has a lifted, driving acidity, with flavours of plum, apple, pear, citrus and peach. A wine of considerable intensity and appealing complexity. Pair with a summer-fruit cobbler. (Vintages panel, Sept. 2019) |
