ENTOURAGE Grand Reserve SPARKLING 2016 Icewine dosage, VQA Ontario |

Unable to taste due to LCBO cancellation of the April 4 media tasting. Here is Tony Aspler’s tasting note: Old gold colour; honey and apple on the nose; medium-bodied, off-dry, apple and honey flavours with a note of ginger. Easy drinking. Made in the traditional method (aka Method Classique) with two years aging on lees with dosage of Vidal icewine it has 12.5% alcohol and 36 g/L residual sugar. Has not appeared in Vintages before. With the icewine dosage, this slightly sweet the “Grand Reserve Sparkling” is confusing and would have likely benefitted from a distinct label. |

TASTING NOTE: This handcrafted sparkler features the classic Champagne blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, plus a distinctly Ontario flair provided by the Icewine dosage. It's toasty, with strawberry, apple, lemon and some tropical mango tones. This just-off-dry sparkler will be a fine option for spiced crab appetizers or a dinner featuring smoked salmon.
