VIDAL ICEWINE 2000 ‘Vintners Select’, Estate Bottled, VQA Niagara Peninsula |

Shows deep orange colour. Clearly past its best with a very ripe, rotting orange, cooked turnip nose. Powerful on the palate but ungainly, volatile and unbalanced. Way overpriced for vidal icewine. (MT - 75) |

Tasting note: Deep copper gold colour with aromas of mango, honey pear, burnt sugar and vanilla extract. Sweet and intense yet perfectly balanced by a seam of acidity. Very full-bodied with a long, luxurious finish. Very enjoyable now, but definitely enough ‘stuff’ to let it age 4+ years. (David Churchill, Vintages, Sept. 2003) Food match: crème brûlée. |
