TONY ASPLER / 90-points / BUY - Pale ruby colour; minerally, strawberry puree nose; medium-bodied, not overly sweet thanks to its lively acidity. An easy-drinking Icewine. A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
Icewine is a rarity in the wine world, as only a few regions are lucky enough to experience the conditions required to produce it. Even rarer are red Icewines. This popular example is made by one of Ontario's most important winemaking families and is from one of Ontario's most historically significant varieties, Cabernet Franc. Look for bright, lifted red fruit tones - think strawberry, raspberry and cranberry - with refreshing acidity. This will be ideal with a fruity dessert. |
