Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CAVE SPRING |
Bright light yellow colour. Intense, sweet, honeyed, spicy, ripe apple puree nose with a slightly distracting faint hint of vinyl. Very sweet, medium bodied, quite viscous, spicy, honeyed, ripe apple puree flavours with some Seville orange marmalade notes and a lingering, caramel-tinged finish. TONY ASPLER / 90-points - Old gold colour; intense bouquet of honey and orange with a Botrytis note; medium to full-bodied, sweet, honeyed mango and citrus fruit flavours; unctuous on the palate. Perhaps not up to the recommended 2013 with 92-points. Has 10.5% alcohol and 224 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: An elegantly flavoured riesling Icewine from well-known riesling specialist, Cave Spring Cellars. Notes of pear and mineral, white flower, apricot and honey are harmoniously expressed on the palate. Despite a voluminous mouthfeel the wine is not overbearing. Sweetness is carefully balanced and the finish is quite persistent. Classic. Score - 91 (Sara d'Amato, winealign.com, Feb. 27, 2016) |
