TASTING NOTE: Founded in 2013, Burnt Ship Bay Estate winery is named for a small bay in the Upper Niagara River where, in 1759, during the Seven Years War, the French burned several ships in order to prevent them from falling into the hands of the English. The winery produces a Cabernet/Merlot, a Chardonnay, a Pinot Grigio and this Vidal Icewine. It suggests impressive peach, mango and pineapple tones with spice and honey. Long and fresh with a racy finish. Enjoy with Foie Gras or blue-veined cheeses. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2016) |
