RIESLING ICEWINE 1999 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

Cave Spring |
Light golden yellow colour. Very slightly odd (botrytis?), spicy, sweet, baked green apple and candied lemon rind nose with creme brulée notes. Quite rounded but still bright, honeyed, well balanced, spicy, very sweet baked apple and creme brulée flavours. |

Tasting note: Another very fine effort from Cave Spring this vintage – a year that has pitched its creamy, genteel style right into Cave Spring’s wheel house. Bright lemony colour, with quite rich pineapple, pear, spearmint aromas, and just a hint of plastic. Very fine sweetness, richness on the palate, if a bit soft. Excellent to outstanding length. Score – 90. (David Lawrason, Wine Access, Jan. 2002) |
