RIESLING ICEWINE 2007 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

INNISKILLIN |
Here is Julian Hitner s note: Unquestionably one of the finest icewines in Ontario, if not the entire country. Brilliant, medium golden-yellow colour. Exhibiting beautiful scents of fresh honey, lemony apricots, light tropical fruit, white flowers, and spice. Complex and beautifully clean, with lovely soft fruit, balanced acidity, and a extremely delicate hint of sweet pineapple on the finish. Truly remarkable, with outstanding balance, elegance, and purity of character. Not in the least bit cloying. Expensive, yet well worth the price. Now-2018+. A repeat of the recommended 2007 (***) released on December 6, 2008 at $69.95. |

Both a pioneer and indefatigable innovator of Icewine, Inniskillin stands as the world leader of Canada's vinous treasure. The incredible 2007 vintage in Niagara is one for the record books. TASTING NOTE: Riesling based icewine is my favorite hands down. It has greater complexity and balance than other grapes because of the terrific combination of acidity and fruit. Notes of ripe pear, apricot, peach and honey. Innskillin certainly knows how to make a masterful icewine. This is truly a benchmark of the breed. Pair with: chicken with a mushroom sauce, ribollita, lobster thermidor, crab salad, hard cheeses. Score - 93. (Natalie MacLean, www.nataliemaclean.com, Dec. 6, 2008) |
