MERLOT ICEWINE 2004 VQA Niagara Peninsula |

Light red colour. Juicy strawberry jam nose. Spicy, sweet, caramel and ripe plum flavours with some candy apple hints on the finish. Last tasted/judged January 2006 (***). Seems a little less opulent than when initially judged. My impression is that these red icewines will not age as well as the whites. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
Icewine made from Merlot is very rare, yet this splendid version managed to win a Gold Medal at the 2006 Canadian Wine Awards. Truly a unique experience, this lush wine is layered with candied plums, chocolate, banana, cherry and black forest cake aromas and flavours. Enjoy it with premium dark chocolate for a truly decadent experience. |
